Minute Meditations

God Surrounds Us Minute Meditations
When we pray, we make ourselves aware of God’s presence and express the intimacy we share with one who knows us completely. We acknowledge that we, of all nature and the cosmos are hemmed, in by God. God surrounds us on all sides.

DAILY CATHOLIC QUESTION

What does hosanna mean?

The biblical encyclopedias indicate that the cry of "Hosanna!" was a cry for salvation. It can be translated "Do save," "Save, we ask" or "Lord, grant salvation!"

That is its sense as it appears in Psalm 118:2. On the Feast of Tents the Jewish people made a procession with palms while singing hosanna. The seventh day was called the Great Hosanna. Used by crowds in the Gospels as Jesus enters Jerusalem (Matthew 21:9, Mark 11:9 and John 12:13), it is a cry of praise, homage, supplication and joy used to recognize Jesus’ royal messianic dignity.

The cry of hosanna passed from use in the liturgy of the synagogues to our use in the Christian liturgy where it continues to be a shout of praise and honor.

Jack & Sue Britten's Bald Eagle nest!

Update on our bald eagles...
July 4th we found one of the babies, now a juvenile, on the side of the road on our property. The eaglets were now about 3 months old. The eaglet was trying to get back off the ground and fly, but did not have enough strength. We had no idea who to call with this problem. Being the 4th of July we couldn't get ahold of the DNR. Finially I googled eagle rescue (isn't the internet great) and found a place in Twin Lakes. The bird was taken there and found to be very hungry and weak. It was fed fish, rats, etc and gained 1 pound while it was there. It then weighed 9 pounds. These newer pictures are when the now juvenile bald eagle was brought back and re-released on our property. The women had a problem getting it off our deck and into the woods, But finially it found it's way back home. We don't see anyone in the nest anymore. They are too busy hunting for food. I have added more pics to Jack and Sue's bald eagle nest.

We have an active eagle nest in our back yard. Just this past week (May 15th) we were visited by 2 bald eagle  researchers from MSU and Clemson University who came to band and test our eaglets. I was so blessed to be able to witness this event and to take pictures. The nest is 90 feet off the ground and we have three eaglets. There are 2 male and one unknown, probaby a female. Walter lowered them one at a time to the ground to be weighed, measured , blood tested and banded. The babies were very calm during all of this but mom and dad were flying in circles overhead and making a lot of noise. They returned to the nest shortly after everyone left. The first two pictures were taken earlier by someone else (notice the snow).

ENJOY!
Jack & Sue
